Walking in the footsteps of some of the most profound artists of the 20th Century, Prince Charles adds his artistic licence to Mouton's eclectic mix of both fine wine and fine artists, amongst them: Moore, Bacon, Picasso, Miró, Warhol and Balthus.

Encapsulated and enchanted by the splendour of the renowned pine trees at Cap d'Antibes on the Cote d'Azur , the reclining Prince has been turning watercolour into wine to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Entente Cordial between France and England .

Inscribed: 'To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Entente Cordiale, Charles 2004', it echoes the 1977 Mouton inscription dedicated to the Queen Mother, whilst taking the next step in associating the fine tradition and heritage of this prestigious château with that of royalty.

The label, chosen by Baroness Philippine de Rothschild from the Prince's private collection, graces the face of one of the world's finest wine houses, on the recently bottled 2004 vintage of Château Mouton Rothschild launched this week. Featuring a rustic row of pine trees framed by a striking blue sky, the label echoes the warmth, purity and complexity of the wine itself fed by the generosity of Mother Nature.

Whilst not as innovative in style as some of the previous offerings, the painting does invoke the essential spirit and heritage of a first-class wine which appeals to the heart whilst warming both palate and soul. Described as 'A sympathetic evocation of the South of France' by Scotland on Sunday art critic Iain Gale, Prince Charles indeed succeeds in capturing the nuances of a creation born of the utmost devotion. A wine fine enough to crown any table.
